Pin type jack stands use locking pins to adjust the height while screw type jack stands use adjustable screws. Line up the divot on your jack stand with the part of the pinch point that extends down. Use bricks wooden wedges or metal wheel chocks to block the wheels at the end of the car that isn t being raised. Slide your jack stand in from the side of your vehicle. If you used a wheel flat on the ground as a failsafe put that wheel back.

Never jack up a vehicle without blocking the wheels to keep it from rolling.
